Application

Please Note: ASI students must come only from NATO countries or Partner countries (eligible and non-eligible) or Mediterranean Dialogue countries, with the limit for any one country of 25% of total number of students. Students from other countries are not permitted to attend. The objective is to have a balanced participation between students from eligible Partner or Mediterranean Dialogue countries on the one hand, and students from NATO countries on the other. There should in any case be a minimum of 25% from combined Partner and Mediterranean Dialogue countries. Please refer to the table below for a complete list of eligible countries.

The teaching in ASIs is aimed at scientists at postdoctoral level or equivalent as well as PhD students in their final year. Candidates who do not have a PhD, but do have suitable experience in meteorology and climatology, will also be considered.

Since lectures will be delivered in English, candidates must have an adequate knowledge of English. Also, if you are a PhD student, you will be asked to provide a letter of reference to be e-mailed to us at a.troccoli@ecmwf.int.

Please also check our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page.

Note that according to NATO-ASI regulations
all participants must stay during the whole period of the course, i.e. from 23 May to 3 June 2005, in order to ensure that everyone gets the most out of it.
THEREFORE, ONLY APPLICATIONS FOR THE FULL DURATION OF THE ASI WILL BE CONSIDERED

We expect that limited financial support will be available for selected graduate and post doctoral students. Many countries have governmental agencies which support participation in scientific meetings. We encourage you to contact them. If financial support will be required for you to attend this ASI, please describe the amount in the application below. Note, however, that only in very exceptional circumstances will we entirely support an applicant.
